Michael Hancock takes a practical and results oriented approach to mediating and adjudicating workplace disputes.
Michael’s career in labour relations commenced in 2002. Following his call to the Bar, Michael practiced labour and employment law exclusively for over 16 years. Prior to leaving practice, Michael was employed in an in-house capacity as Senior Legal Counsel to a large construction industry local union. In June 2019, Michael was appointed as a Vice-Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board, where he adjudicates and mediates applications filed under statutes including the Labour Relations Act, 1995, Occupational Health & Safety Act and Employment Standards Act.
Michael has a wide range of experience in both the public and private sectors, including construction, healthcare, manufacturing, food processing, automotive, waste collection, retail, hospitality and the service industry.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. He was called to the Bar in February 2002. Michael has been a speaker at a number of conferences including Lancaster House.
